Elisabeth Anderson

Outside of Commence Scientific, Elisabeth is the Director of Science Communication at the Center for Research on Ingredient Safety and Michigan State University. She’s worked in high-level state government, with Fortune 100 companies, and at numerous startups.
She leverages data and social listening to simplify complex subjects through a human-centered approach, meeting individuals where they are rather than where experts expect them to be. In addition to her leadership roles, she specializes in AI, algorithm curation, social listening, and strategic communications.
Stephen Anderson, Ph.D.
Director, Political Analysis
Dr. Anderson’s career spans several continents. He specializes in global political science analysis and has worked in academia, government, and research and development. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Michigan State University and certificates in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
He also has a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from The Ohio State University and developed food safety tests prior to his political science career.
Joe Zagorski, Ph.D.
Director, Toxicology and Life Sciences
Dr. Zagorksi’s is a toxicologist for the Center of Research on Ingredient Safety. He is dedicated to better understanding and supporting the safety of consumer products as they pertain to bettering public health.
He completed a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology and Environmental Toxicology from Michigan State University in 2017. While at MSU, he studied the role of a cell stress pathway, activated by chemical toxicants, in the alteration of immune function.
Prior to his role at MSU, Dr. Zagorski worked at Corewell Health (formerly Spectrum Health) in Grand Rapids, studying translational therapeutics for pediatric cancer. He supported projects ranging from heart disease to adult oncology and precision medicine.
